How to tie a double bow

Add a little extra to the perfect ballet hairstyle, when wrapping a gift or give their favourite soft toy a new look with one of these gorgeous double bows. You could even hot glue your bow onto a hair clip for the easiest ballet bun accessory.

You'll need...

To tie one of these double bows to match our new season Tutus and leotards you’ll need;

      • a length of ribbon about 40cm (this is just for a bow, if you are tying around a ballet bun or present you’ll need some extra length),
      • a pair of scissors,
      • a lighter/match to seal the ends of your ribbon.

          How to tie a double bow...

          Step 1:

          Place ribbon over your index finger with about 15cm for the bow tail hanging in front of your palm.

          Take the ribbon from the back of your hand and wrap under your middle finger.
          Step 2: Take the ribbon and wrap under your middle finger

          Step 3:

          Then wrap the ribbon over your index finger again so you have two layers of ribbon.

          Step 4:

          Insert end of ribbon between the ribbon around your fingers and the ‘v’ between your fingers.

          Step 5:

          As you pull through your ribbon wraps under the middle finger again.

          Step 6:

          Pull tail of ribbon across in front of your hand.

          Step 7:

          Insert tail under top layer of ribbon from the side closest to your palm.

          Step 7: Insert tail under top layer of ribbon

          Step 8:

          Pull tight. Adjust as you pull to ensure the knot remains in the centre of your bow.

          Step 9:

          Remove the double bow from your fingers.

          Step 9: Remove from fingers and seperate the layers of ribbon.

          Step 10:

          Adjust bow ears to suit and trim ribbon ends to the desired length. We used a lighter to seal the ends of the ribbon so it doesn't fray.

          And Voila! you should have a beautiful double bow.
