Dance Bag Essentials Checklist

Having the right essentials for every dance class can be time-consuming and at times inconvenient. Ever have that feeling where you’ve gotten your child seemingly ready after school, only to get to their recital to realise the little one forgot her dance shoes, his drink bottle, etc. With our easy-to-use printable checklist, you will be ready to have your kids dancing into every class with zero hassle.

Dance Bag

First and foremost, having the perfect size dance bag is ideal. This way you can make sure everything you need is in the one spot. Dancers love when they’re accessories match, so having one that is pink and fun to go with what they are wearing is a great way to make sure they keep it close and don’t go forgetting it in class! If in need, our perfect bag can be purchased here.

Dance Shoes

Having their dance ready shoes is the most important dance bag essential. Not only do you want their ballet shoes appropriate for the class, but making sure you have some other appropriate shoes on hand for going-to and coming-from the class is perfect! Some perfect examples of these are shoes such as Ugg Boots (perfect for slipping feet with ballet shoes already tied on, right inside. This also makes sure they stay protected while travelling to and from the dance studio). Otherwise, sneakers, thongs or moon boots are ideal! This will ensure their shoes will last as long as possible and that no matter the weather, they won’t get damaged en route! Find our high quality ballet shoes here.

Jumper

You never know when the weather is going to change, so making sure whether its summer or winter, they have an extra layer of clothing is definitely a necessity! Going for a cross over or zip jumper is perfect. This makes sure that they don’t ruin their perfect bun. Even for warming up and cooling down, having those easy layers that they can throw on and off is perfect for making sure they stay comfortable and warm.

Hair-Do Essentials

Having a ballet bun or neat hairstyle for their dance class is a must. But making sure either one of these is possible can be tricky business if you don’t have the right things!

The basic things you need for a ponytail: Closed bristle brush, Hairspray, Hair Elastics, Open pins, Bobby Pins (closed pins) and Hair Elastics that matches your hair colour An easy to follow ‘step-by-step’ video can be found here to make this even easier.

Another plus, if someone else has forgotten any one of these little nifty things, lending a hand is always a great way to not only quickly save another parent in need, but can also help you connect and look good with other parents!

Band-Aids

You never know what is going to happen, but being prepared going to or from dance class is great. Also, someone having a Band-Aid is something we all wish more people would have on hand at times! Staying precautious is the best way to never be caught out empty handed, so make sure you pack a few extra of these in their bags for those moments! Tip: Having a few extra stashed in the glove compartment can also be a quick life-saver

Spare Tights

Tights are not always a necessity depending on what dance form your child is involved with. However, they are a requirement for all ballet classes, also making every twist and turn a lot more comfortable for the little ones! Having a spare set of tights means that if they forget to grab them at home, you’ve got them on hand to pop on last minute!

Also, getting a rip in their tights is definitely something that happens every now and again, so having an extra set ready to go is a great way to stay stress free. Our quality ballet tights can be found here.

Leotard

Ever had that last-minute snack that landed on the front of their top before an important event? Wished you’d brought a spare one with you for just that moment? Well, making sure you’ve got an extra one of these stashed away in their dance bag is perfect. With this tip, your little ballerina will always be looking fresh and proper for class! Snacks

You’ve just picked her up from school, she’s hungry and tired and needs that little pick me up! And you’re all prepped! Having that little bit of brain food ready-to-go is perfect for powering through till dinner time, with enough energy for every pirouette the teacher has planned. Having some fruit or her favorite muesli bar is definitely a necessity for her bag!

Water Bottle

Keeping our children hydrated can be difficult at times, so making sure there is always a full drink bottle on hand is a great to make sure they’re constantly sipping away! Having one with an easy-to-sip spout is recommended. This way, there is much less of a chance of them spilling anything on their outfits!

Something While They Wait

Whether you’ve got all your kids activities all on the same night, or the weather is simply slowing the traffic down while you're on your way, making sure your little one has something to occupy herself with as she waits for you is a perfect distraction, is the perfect packing essential. Whether it be a book, a colouring book, some homework, or even the family iPad, will ensure she stays happy and occupied before you arrive!
